Delbert L. Fields, 70, of Brownstown, passed away at 10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, 2014, at his residence.

Delbert had served in the U.S. Army from 1967-69 and retired from Cummins Engine Co. after 30 years of service. He was a member of Eagles Arie Lodge 655 and American Legion Post 89. He enjoyed camping and horseback riding.

Born Aug. 14, 1944, in Jackson County, he was the son of Evan and Ora (Grider) Fields. On May 31, 1980, he married Cheryl (Jones) Fields, who survives.

Other survivors include children, Lisa A. Fields, Tammy J. Fields and Tara D. Barker; a brother, Jack R. Fields; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin Fields and Frank Fields; and sisters, Ruby Downing and Maxie Carpenter; a granddaughter, Amber Fields; and a great-grandchild, Payton Fields.

In keeping with his wishes there will be no funeral service.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown.

Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.
