Lutheran aid group meets in Seymour

Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Aid 3 met Nov. 20 in the Seymour church’s social room.

President Marlis Kilgas opened the meeting and introduced the guest speaker, Pastor Jimmy Rodriguez. He and the group sang the hymn, “Give Thanks” and read responsively Psalm 138. He gave a Thanksgiving message.

Twenty-one members answered roll call. Minutes of the last meeting were read by Carol Hill, secretary, and Pat Weasner gave the financial report and also discussed profits from the arts and craft show conducted in early November.

Donna Otte and Helen Nolting reported on their visitations for November. Donna Runge and Ruth Ann Schneider will have December visitations, Sharon Scott and Brenda Snyder for January, Theresa Vondielingen and Pat Weasner for February and Carlana Able and Evelyn Krebs for March.

“Happy Birthday” was sung to Jan Behren and Kilgas.

The Christmas dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 18 and will be catered by Liberty Grill. Donations will be collected for a needy family.

Marlis thanked all the committee members and officers for their service in 2014. She passed out a committee sign-up sheet for next year. A motion was passed that there would be no membership dues next year.

Information showing the listing of proposed gifting amounts for 2014 was distributed, and 11 organizations will be receiving matching funds from Thrivent. Eight other organizations and people will be receiving funds.

The next meeting will be March 19, 2015 in the fellowship hall of the church. Hostesses will be Ginny Fenton and Jane Pardieck. The meeting was closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
