Brody Aspen Surma Furlow, six weeks old, Madison, passed away at 12:48 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Kosair Children’s Hospital, Louisville, Kentucky.

He came into this world at 8:58 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, in Madison, weighing one pound and eight ounces.

He was brought into this life by two loving and deserving parents, Josh Edens Furlow and Raquel “Kelly” Surma. “Brody Bear,” as his parents called him, passed away in the comfort of his mother’s arms as his daddy held his tiny hand with a room full of loving family by their sides. In his brief time on this Earth, he touched so many lives and was very, very loved.

Survivors include his parents; grandparents, Eugene Michael and Mary Ann Surma of Madison and Sherry and Thomas Miller of Medora; grandmother, Robin Ball of Madison; godmother, Tammy Black of Madison; uncles, Eugene Surma of Madison, Marcus Henry Edens of Indianapolis and Daniel Christian Edens of Seymour; aunts, Anna Elizabeth Edens of Seymour and Ashley Ball of Madison; cousins, Eugene Travis and Tyler and Mallory Surma; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Gail Frank Williams, and great-grandmother, Hermina Van Ede Williams.

Father John A. Meyer will conduct the funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive, Madison. Burial will take place at Bayless Cemetery in Madison.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

The family requests donations in memory of Brody be made to the Ronald McDonald House or Necrotizing Enterocolitis Awareness.
