Donate to Cops and Kids program through Saturday

Centra Credit Union’s Seymour branch is accepting donations to the Holiday Giving Program through Saturday.

Donations support the local Fraternal Order of Police’s Cops and Kids program.

The Christmas tree at the branch, located at 520 S. Jackson Park Drive, is decorated with gift tags that represent a Jackson County child the FOP plans to take shopping for winter clothes and a toy.

The FOP has registered 60 children who will experience shopping with a police officer. Centra Foundation and branch employees aim to raise funds to cover gifts for 25 of the children.

Seymour Detective C.J. Foster, who is FOP president, said this year’s goal is to take 60 children shopping.

Coin donation boxes also are available.

“We learned last year that loose change really adds up,” branch manager Karen Owens said.

Centra Foundation also provides the opportunity to make donations online at centrafoundation.org. Donations are tax-deductible.

The foundation was created by Centra Credit Union in 2012 as the charitable arm of Centra Credit Union.
