Hazel Prewitt, 82, of Seymour, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, at her home with her family surrounding her with their love.

Born April 15, 1932, in Perry County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Estill and Mary (Brewer) Deaton.

Hazel was married to Jake “Jakie G” Prewitt.

She retired from Cummins Engine Co., and enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and gardening.

She is survived by her children, Debbie Alexander, Harold (Betty) Jent, Lorraine (Steve) Trapp, Sheree (Jeff) Duncan, Gregory (Betty) Jent and Michael (Linda) Jent; son-in-law, Terry Carruthers; brothers, Chester Deaton, Billy G. (Jesse) Deaton, Eli (Phyllis) Deaton and Jerry (Clara) Deaton; sister, Anna Mae Deaton; sisters-in-law, Katie Deaton and Patricia Deaton; 24 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jake “Jakie G”; daughter, Brenda Carruthers; brothers, Adam Earl Deaton and Leonard Deaton; and a great-grandson, Baurle Van Doren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Voss Chapel with Pastor Herbie White officiating.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Uniontown Cemetery with a Voss dove release.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Schneck Medical Center or the Alzheimer’s Association.
