Jane L. Nichalson Henley, 77, of Seymour, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2014.

Born Oct. 5, 1937, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Francis “Sam” Nichalson and Aldeen Innis Nichalson. Both preceded her in death.

Jane graduated from Shields High School and retired from the city of Seymour’s aviation department in 2001. She was a member of Central Christian Church, a charter member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary 655 and a volunteer for the American Red Cross.

On Nov. 24, 1971, she married Ray C. “Red” Henley, and he preceded her in death in 1993.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bob (Kathy) Combs; a sister and brother-in-law, Irene (John) Sprenger; niece, Karen (Scott) Surface; nephew, Steven Sprenger; three stepdaughters, Laura (Cullen) Stahl, Rayetta (Orville) Akers and Sandra (Ron) Barnes; two stepsons, Tom (Pat) Henley and Terry (Jennifer) Henley; and several stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren and stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, David S. Combs, on Aug. 19, 1998; and a stepson, Fred Henley.

A graveside service will conducted at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Voss Chapel in Seymour.

Memorials may be written to the donor’s choice of charity.
