Walter “Wally” Cox, 72, of Seymour, passed away at 7 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, in Anderson.

He had worked as a supervisor for Interstate Brands Corp. and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was an avid golfer who played as recently as Friday. He received great joy when traveling with his wife in their RV throughout the United States.

Born Jan. 24, 1942, in Knott County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late L.B. and Luelzia Gayhart Cox. On June 14, 1980, he married Louise Brewer McKinney. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Eric (Gina) Cox; two stepsons, Mark (Joyce) McKinney and Scott (Megan) McKinney; a brother, Clark (Dorothy) Cox; a sister, Thelma Cox; and nine grandchildren, Bradley Cox, Derek Cox, Payton Cox, Ashley Cox, Amanda Cox, Andrew McKinney, Victoria McKinney, Reed McKinney and John McKinney.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brian Cox; three brothers; and a sister.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown with the Rev. Bill Lockman officiating. Burial with military rites will take place at Smallwood Cemetery west of Brownstown.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
