Larry Mahoney, 72, of Columbus, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born Dec. 2, 1942, in Seymour, he was the son of Eugene L. and Elnora P. Owens Mahoney. He married Charolette J. Rush on Dec. 18, 1965, in Seymour. She survives.
He was a 1961 graduate of Seymour High School and attended Indiana University Purdue University-Indianapolis.
Larry retired from sales in 2005 and was a former plant manager for CP Electronics.
He was a member of New Hope Christian Church where he served as a deacon.
His hobbies included gardening and woodworking. Larry was a skilled woodworker having crafted Shaker beds, coffee tables, cedar chests, trunks, cradles and rocking horses for family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Eugene L. Mahoney Jr.
Besides his wife, Larry is survived by his father, Eugene L. Mahoney of Seymour; children, Coleen (Scott) Moulton, St. Augustine Beach, Florida, and Shaun (Jessica) Mahoney, Franklin; grandchildren, Heather Moulton of Covington, Kentucky, Maxwell Moulton of St. Augustine, Florida, Maiya Mahoney of Franklin, and Connor Mahoney of Franklin; a brother, Michael (Nancy) Mahoney, Urbana, Illinois; nephews, Jeffrey (Stacy) Mahoney, Atlanta, and Bradley (Kendra) Mahoney, Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin; a niece, Heather (Keith) Grob, Phylo, Illinois; and numerous great-nieces and a great-nephew.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Hope Christian Church at N. U.S. 31 and County Road 400N in Columbus with John Sichting officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Private inurnment was at Garland Brook Cemetery.
