Police look into death of North Vernon woman

An investigation into the death of a 28-year-old North Vernon woman has begun.

Ashley Chester was found dead after police responded to a report of an unresponsive female at 454½ E. O&M Ave. on Thursday. That call was made to Jennings Central Dispatch at 2 p.m.

Officers arriving at the scene found that the female, later identified at Chester, was not breathing. Officers began CPR until being relieved by personnel with Rescue 20.

Chester was taken to St. Vincent Jennings Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy is

scheduled.

North Vernon Police Lt. Randall Marshall said the investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
