Exchange Club picks Youth of the Month

Olivia Goecker of Brownstown recently was named 2014 November Youth of the Month by the Browns-town Exchange Club.

The Brownstown Central High School senior was introduced by club member and committee chairman Kevin Gwin.

Goecker is a member of National Honor Society, a class officer serving terms as secretary and president, a four-year student council member including service as secretary, Booster Club (secretary), Letterman’s Club and 4-H. She is a Drug Abuse Resistance Education Role Model.

She was a member of the cross-country team for one year, the volleyball team for two years and a four-year member of the track and basketball teams. She was named the track team’s most improved athlete in 2014 and holds the school record in the 300-meter hurdles. She also was named to the all-Mid-Southern Conference track team and is co-

captain of the basketball team.

Goecker, the daughter of Dave and Mandy Goecker, told club members she planned to attend Indiana University where she will major in speech pathology.

Brownstown Exchange Club meets at 7 a.m. Tuesday mornings at Michie’s Diner, 216 W. Commerce St., Brownstown. Visitors are welcome.
