Two churches plan to offer Financial Peace University courses beginning next month in the Seymour area.

The first nine-week course will begin at 6 p.m. Jan. 14 at The Point, 311 Myers St., and a second course will begin at the church at 6 p.m. Jan. 20. The third course will begin at 7 p.m. Jan. 20 at Peter’s Switch Church of the Nazarene, 9528 N. County Road 760E.

Financial Peace University is operated by syndicated columnist Dave Ramsey and is designed to teach families and individuals how to handle their money through common-sense principles and small-group accountability.

Lessons include budgeting, relationships and money, getting out of debt, saving for emergencies and investing. After each lesson, the group meets in smaller groups to help and encourage each other, plan budgets and discuss successes and temptations.

Space is limited. The costs of each of the three classes is $93 for a kit that includes a workbook, textbooks, forms and access to information on the Financial Peace University website.
