Bobby G. Murphy, 91, of Scottsburg, passed away Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

He was born May 6, 1923, in Scottsburg, and was the son of Ezra F. and Anna Strouse Murphy. His parents preceded him in death. Bobby was married to Mary Margaret Criswell Murphy, who also preceded him in death June 20, 2001.

He was the former owner of the old Murphy Marathon bulk plant in Seymour and Scottsburg and also a Marathon distributor for both businesses. He was still currently working two days a week for J & C Feed in Scottsburg. Bobby was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Leota, served in World War II as a technician third grade in the U.S. Army, was a longtime member of Scottsburg Masonic Lodge Free & Accepted Masons 572 in Scottsburg and the Murat Shriners in Indianapolis.

Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Kay (Dave) Hopping of Franklin, and Janice (Jim) Jansky of Millbrook, Illinois; an aunt, Margaret Grace Strouse of Scottsburg; four grandchildren, Melissa (Todd) Tomamichel, Matt Hopping, Kyle Klaisner and Kasey (Vince) Mavrick; and three great-grandchildren, Alison, Trent and Adam Tomamichel.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Collins Funeral Home, 465 W. McClain Ave., Scottsburg with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday.
