Book group to discuss World War II biography

Adults and teens are invited to read and discuss “The Statement” by Brian Moore with the Books By Night group, which will meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Seymour Library, 303 W. Second St.

Led by volunteer Tim Decker, the group will talk about the book based on the life of a former pro-Nazi Vichy military officer, Pierre Brossard, who was in hiding for 44 years. Brossard was wanted for the 1944 murders of 14 Jews, whom he shot at random — thinking he was doing a good thing.

Copies of the book may be checked out at the Seymour Library checkout desk, or people may come to the event to listen and discuss the themes of the book. No registration is required for this free program.

Call Becky Brewer at 812-522-3412 ext. 1239 to find out more about joining a book discussion group at the Jackson County Public Library.
