Floyd W. “Buzz” Edwards, 79, of Columbus, and formerly of Seymour, passed away at 10:05 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, at his home.

Born March 21, 1935, in Jackson County, he was the son of Elmer and Addie Grubb Edwards. On April 18, 1954, in Tazewell, Tennessee, Buzz married Ruth Fee. They were married 60 years.

He worked for Cummins Engine Plant for 30 years, retiring in 1996.

Mr. Edwards was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of World of Pentecost Church in Columbus and former member of Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Crothersville. Buzz loved his church and was active in the bus ministry and teaching Sunday school. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, camping and traveling. He especially loved spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Edwards of Columbus; one daughter, Belinda (Brent) Coleman of Columbus; two grandsons, Aaron (Jennifer) White of Fishers and Joshua White of Seymour; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Kailey White; one brother, Doyle “Dob” (Betty) Edwards of Uniontown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Eric White; four brothers, Howard, Lester “Red,” Jack, and “Snap” Edwards; and one sister, Beatrice Bottorff.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel in Seymour with the Rev. Dan Mitchell and the Rev. Scott Bowman officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 89, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam 7, all of Seymour.
