Cortland High School’s 1927 basketball team won 14 of 17 games in the regular season before capturing the sectional tournament title.
During the season, Cortland defeated Jeffersonville 34-30, North Vernon 27-22, Vallonia 31-19, Austin 40-19, plus a number of county teams. They lost to Brownstown twice during the season, 25-22 and 25-19, and were defeated by Freetown 34-22.
