Danny Lee Eldridge, 62, of Seymour, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at Louisville VA Medical Center.

Born Nov. 20, 1952, in Seymour, he was the son of William A. and Norma Jean Wright Eldridge. On Dec. 12, 1975, at Seymour First Church of the Nazarene, he married Jeanette LaRoche.

Danny served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He lived outside Seymour during his early marriage years and worked in civil positions at military bases as security.

He returned to Seymour in 1989 with his family and began working to provide for his family. He worked at RR Donnelley and then for years was a driver and later a manager of Reliable Taxi and Medicab. He also volunteered and ran Grace Fellowship Soup Kitchen on Second Street in Seymour for years.

Danny was a member of Community Christian Church until it closed and also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925 and American Legion Post 89, both in Seymour. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids and enjoyed listening to gospel music and spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed tinkering on cars and other things and watching Cubs baseball games. He also sang with several gospel groups locally and was a song evangelist with his wife in the Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette; children, William Albert Eldridge, Ross David (Lindsay) Eldridge, Jean Marie (Carlos) Rodriguez and Mary Catherine Diaz-Mejias, all of Seymour; two brothers, Michael A. (Nancy) Eldridge of Seymour and Tim (Laurie) Eldridge of Eustis, Florida; a sister, Billie (Joe) Trimpe of Seymour; grandchildren, Dylan, Juan, Gabriela, Sophia and Liam; uncle, Roy Eldridge of Seymour; two nephews; and one niece.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Lilian.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre in Seymour. Burial with full military honors will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
