COLUMBUS

Larry E. Whipker, 77, of Columbus, died at 1:28 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, in the emergency room at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Larry was born Feb. 25, 1937, in Columbus, and was the son of Carl and Beatrice Wagner Whipker. His parents preceded him in death. He married Nancy J. Chestnut on Dec. 5, 1964, in Seymour.

Larry was previously employed at the Bartholomew County Landfill, the U.S. Post Office at Columbus, Stadler Meat Packing Co. and as a farmer. He attended Valparaiso University and was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Larry loved spending time with family and friends.

Larry is survived by his wife, Nancy J. Whipker; daughter, Staci (Travis) Goodwin of Noblesville; son, Jarrod (Kelly) Whipker of Nashville, Tennessee; a granddaughter, Chezney Whipker; brother, Marshall (Doris) Whipker of Columbus; a niece, Elaine Crouch; a nephew, Jeff Crouch,; and lots of cousins, family and friends.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 2 until 6 p.m. Saturday at the Whipker home, 300 S. Hinman St., Columbus.

In lieu of flowers the family asked that memorial contributions be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran School.
