Library to host session on small space gardening

The public is invited to learn how to grow vegetables and flowers on top of bales of straw during a free program at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Seymour library, 303 W. Second St.

Library Information Services assistant and gardener Kathi Linz will teach the program, “The Straw Bale Gardening: Cheap, Easy and Space Saving Gardening.”

Linz has researched and experimented with ways to grow a garden in a small place, according to a news release. This project is easy and inexpensive, too. Gardening with straw bales is easier on the back and knees since the garden is elevated. Linz will present photos of her 2014 garden while explaining the necessary steps.

Registration is preferred by Friday by visiting myjclibrary.org/events or by calling the Seymour library at 812-523-4636.
