Ora Erna Boxman, 85, of Seymour passed away at 4:15 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2015, at Lutheran Community Home.

Born Dec. 14, 1929, in Dudleytown, she was the daughter of Henry and Ida Klinge Goecker, both of whom preceded her in death. On April 27, 1958, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dudleytown, she married Harlen A. Boxman. He preceded her in death March 1, 2013.

Ora graduated from Tampico High School in 1948 and attended Seymour Business College. She worked at Hobbs-Miller Insurance Agency for 10 years before starting her family.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she served in many areas including the LINK committee, the guild, the evangelism committee, as a Lutheran braille volunteer and singing with the choir. She also enjoyed volunteering at Lutheran Community Home and served on the steering committee and in the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Ora was an avid card player.

She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She celebrated the birth of her first great-grandson four months ago.

Survivors include a daughter, Beth (Tony) Gerth of Bloomington; a son, Mark (Lynn) Boxman of Arkansas City, Kansas; six grandchildren, Aaron Gerth, Marc (Jaci) Gerth, Laura (Cody) Hayes, Emily (Matt) Soule, David Boxman and Kristen Boxman; a great-grandson, Harper Hayes; sisters-in-law, Hulda and Helen Goecker; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Gerald, Earl, Ollie and Bruno Goecker; and a sister, Lois Goecker.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour with the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, the Rev. Philip Bloch, the Rev. James Rodriguez and Vicar Daniel Merz officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church. A graveside service will follow at Lutheran Cemetery.
