William Raphael “Liam” Carter, 14, of Seymour died Monday, March 2, 2015, in Seymour.

He was an eighth-grader at St. Ambrose Catholic School. You could always find Liam at the local library exploring every shelf. He immersed himself in reading both classic and newer novels. Some of his favorite authors were Steven King, J.K. Rowling, and Lemony Snicket. He loved video games and especially loved to watch movies with his brother, Seth, and sister, Louisa. He enjoyed playing the drums, but his greatest joy was his dog, Lucy.

He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church.

He was the son of Raphael “Ray” and Michelle Chavez Carter. He is survived by his parents; his brother, Seth; and his sister, Louisa; his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Carter; and maternal grandparents, Dennis and Frieda Chavez; and several aunts and uncles, Theresa and John Newton, Phil and Julie Carter, Richard and Sue Carter, Mary Mingus and Zach and Melanie Linder. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Carter; an uncle, Dennis Carter; and a great-grandfather, Eufracio Lucero.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, with Father Dan Staublin officiating, assisted by Deacon Mike East. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Cloverport, Kentucky, with a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. EST (1:30 p.m. CST).

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Voss Chapel and from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church. A Rosary service will be at 1:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Red Sky Animal Rescue or the Jackson County Public Library.
