Around 850 guests sampled wine and beer and helped Developmental Services Inc. raise nearly $20,000 for those with disabilities.

The organization’s seventh annual D’Vine Winter Wine and Beer Festival was conducted Saturday at The Commons in Columbus and featured tastings from 19 wine and beer vendors from around the state.

Developmental Services was established in 1975 and currently serves about 2,000 individuals with disabilities and employs more than 600 people in 42 counties in central and southern Indiana, including Jackson County.

Both the attendance and proceeds raised by the event were records.

Kristen Wright, a Columbus native, and Natalie Royal, both singer/songwriters from Nashville, Tennessee, provided musical entertainment throughout the day.
