Betty Lucille Booker Hehman, 86, of Jackson County, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus.

Born Aug. 14, 1928, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of George and Wilma Termehlen Booker. On Dec. 19, 1948, at Central Christian Church in Seymour, she married Ervin “Shorty” Hehman.

Betty was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. She graduated from Shields High School in Seymour in 1946 and went on to attend Approved University of Beauty Culture in Indianapolis, from where she graduated in 1947. She retired in 1976 after owning and operating Betty’s Beauty Shop in Brownstown for 28 years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Brownstown, a member of Unit 1 Home Demonstration Club for more than 25 years and served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for eight years.

Survivors include her grandson, Larry George; a great-grandson, Jacob Lett; three great-granddaughters, Ashley, Kristin and Michaela George; a brother-in-law, Robert (Joan) Hehman; a nephew, Darrell (Connie) Lawson; and several other nephews and nieces.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Sue Hehman George and a grandson, Terry George.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Voss Chapel with the Rev. Jeffrey Patterson officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Brownstown or Central Christian Church, Seymour.
