VALLONIA

Robert D. “Bob from Vallonia” Nuss, 88, died at 5:05 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at his home.

Born Sept. 23, 1926, in Jackson County, he was the son of Frederick W. and Marie Luetta Brockoff Nuss, both of whom preceded him in death. On Sept. 22, 1946, in Brownstown, he married Marilyn Eastin. She preceded him in death Aug. 6, 1995.

Bob retired from The Peoples Bank in Brownstown, where he had worked as a vice president and a trust officer. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and attending various sporting events through Brownstown Central. He enjoyed camping and attending Driftwood Christian Church; however, his church membership was at Brownstown Christian Church. He also was a U.S. veteran.

Survivors include two children, Doug (Sharon) Nuss and Mary Lou (Terry) Grider; six grandchildren, Beth (Joey) Gallion, Jennifer (Scott) Shade, Renee (Tracy) Stidam, Brian (Jill) Nuss, Jeanne (Craig) Pollert and Gretchan (Charlie) Booher; 12 great-grandchildren; and the Laura Reinhart family, who were a very special part of his life.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Eli Gallion.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown with Doug Pogue officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.

Burial with military rites will be conducted Friday at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown.
