The 1955-56 Crothersville boys basketball team and cheerleaders celebrate after winning the Jackson County Invitational Tournament at Shields Memorial Gymnasium.

In the finals, the Tigers defeated Tampico 60-42. Francis Schill and Jim Sizemore each scored 15 points in the finals.

The first JCI tourney was in 1953.

Schill, a 5-9 junior, won the first annual Jackson County Coaches Player Award at the close of the tournament. The presentation, made by judge John M. Lewis was made to Schill because of “his outstanding sportsmanship during the tourney and because of his display of consistent ability and good basketball playing.”

This week’s photo was submitted by the Schill family.
