Local food pantry steps up to ‘Challenge’

Anchor House Family Assistance Center and Food Pantry is participating in the Feinstein Challenge until April 30.

Alan Shawn Feinstein, who started the challenge, will give away $1 million to fight hunger in 2015. This is the 18th year for the challenge, used to help agencies raise food and funds from March 1 through April 30 each year.

All dollars or food items donated during that time must be designated as used for the Feinstein Challenge.

A donation form is available at Anchor House to document the donation made. In 2014, Anchor House collected 3,708 food items and $11,839 in cash during that time, bringing the total to $15,547. The center was awarded $288 from the Feinstein Challenge.

Anchor House is located at 250 S. Vine St. in Seymour.
