Fundraising will benefit schools program

The annual Rock’n Ready School Supply Drive planning committee recently met in an effort to gather a match from the Cummins Foundation to help all county schools.

The match goal of $6,500 must be raised to receive the same amount. This will be used to purchase school supplies for the annual distribution Aug. 1, according to a news release from the Jackson County United Way.

An anonymous donor has made a lead gift of $2,000.

The committee is asking other residents to “Spring into Action” by making a donation by Friday to help reach the match before the start of spring. Donations may be made at the United Way office in Seymour or sent to Box 94, Seymour, IN, 47274. Checks are accepted, but note in the memo “Rock’n Ready.”

Rock’n Ready is a collaboration of organizations whose goal is to ensure an increased number of children from families throughout Jackson County will have school supplies. The goal is to make sure students in Jackson County Schools arrive on the first day of school with basic school supplies.
