Seymour Community School Corp. has begun planning for the 2015-16 school year.

Individual elementary schools are presently accepting the names of children who will be eligible to enter kindergarten. Those who are not currently enrolled in kindergarten and wish to enroll for first grade for the next school year also must enroll.

Parents are required to furnish the following information by calling their child’s school: The child’s name, birthdate, address, name of parents and/or guardian and telephone number.

A child must have a birth certificate and shot records to enroll and must attend the school in the district in which he or she resides.

To enter kindergarten, a child must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1. To enter first grade, a child must be 6 years old on or before Aug. 1.

Parents of children who did not attend kindergarten in Seymour Community Schools but are planning to attend first grade must contact their child’s school and provide enrollment information.

Registration enrollment will be from 8:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. April 7 at each school.

For parents unable to attend this date or who have a child who is an English Language Learner, there will be registration sessions from 4 to 6 p.m. on April 2 and 16 at Seymour Middle School, 920 N. O’Brien St.
