SEYMOUR

Lora Jolene Howard, 46, of Seymour, passed away at 12:44 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2015, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born Dec. 17, 1968, in Seymour, she was the daughter of John M. and Marvina Lewis IV, both of whom survive in Seymour. On March 15, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, she married Kevin L. Howard. He survives.

Lora graduated from Seymour High School in 1987 and from Morehead State University in 1991. She had several jobs through the years, including at Bob Poynter GM and Dr. Joel McGill’s office. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Kappa Delta sorority and Relay for Life. She was very active as a “sports mom” for her children’s swimming and basketball teams. Lora graduated from Harrison College in 2010 and went to work for Health Center Spine and Wellness Group as a medical coder.

Besides her parents and husband, survivors include her children, Sidney Renee Howard, Keaton Daniel Stout and Kiefer A.W. Howard; a granddaughter, Helena J. Howard; a brother, John M. (Kristin) Lewis V of Indianapolis; a sister, Suzanne Marie White of Houston, Texas; maternal grandmother, Lorraina Schwartz; and her parents-in-law, Bill and Janet Howard.

Lora was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John M Lewis III and Jo (Deputy) Lewis; and her maternal grandfather, Alfred J. Schwartz.

The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, the Rev. Philip Bloch, the Rev. James Rodriguez and youth minister Matt Nieman officiating. 

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel in Seymour and from 12:30 p.m. until time of service Friday at the church. Inurnment will follow the funeral service at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.

Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Athletic Fund or Seymour Swim Club.
