Max E. Gambrel, 46, of Commiskey, passed away at 6:54 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at Columbus Regional Hospital after being sick nine days.

Born Nov. 25, 1968, in Seymour, he was the son of Max Earl and Judy Strong Gambrel. Both survive in Seymour. On May 25, 2001, he married Cindy Philpot, whom he always called Cinderella. She survives in Commiskey.

Max graduated in 1987 from Seymour Christian School and was first in his class.

He drove a truck for Cardinal Trucking and previously for Keller Transport. He loved music and was very talented. He could play anything he picked up.

Other survivors include his six children, Max Eric Gambrel, Krista Gambrel, Christopher Gambrel, Tasha (James) Cowan and Jason Selby, all of Seymour, and Amanda (Matthew) Kingswell of North Vernon; seven grandchildren, Jake and Jocelyn Gambrel, Rachel and Kaylee Cowan, and Dylan, Drew, and Mica Selby, all of Seymour; one sister, Penny (Doug) Arthur and nephew and niece, Derrick and Aimee Arthur, all of Seymour; six aunts; five uncles; and numerous cousins.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville with the Brother Larry Arrowood officiating. Burial will follow at Russell Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be given to Russell Chapel Cemetery or American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
