Several Seymour High School band students participated in the Indiana State School Music Association’s Solo and Ensemble Contest conducted Feb. 7 at Columbus East High School.
Seymour soloists winning gold medals were Trinity Valencia, Andrea Axsom, Abigail Davis, Dustin Morris, Kyle Pfaffenberger, Harsh Patel, Shosei Ando, Grace Moore, Connie Li, Peyton Moore, Dulce Marcos, Chloe Bryden, Grant Sutton, Jenna Hardin, Levi Pfaffenberger, Carson Regruth, Samantha Silver, Mariah Lewis, Skyler Cash and Jennie Stuart.
Silver medal soloists were Skyler Cash, Mary Abernathy, Brayden Engleking, Hallie Crenshaw, Chloe Davis, Jacob Voss, Sydney Allman and Cory Jones.
Seymour ensembles bringing home gold medals were Chloe Bryden, Ellen Stuckwisch, Grace Moore and Abby Davis; Carissa Baughman, Katie O’Mara and Krista Garza; Sophie Gorman, Katy Miller and Alexa McKinney; Jenny Stuart, Grace Hartman and Lorelei Schmidt; May Huff, Abby Voss and Morgan Hixson; Andrew Rudge, Ethan Ashley and John Newton; Reno Tanida, Josiah Rudge and Kaitlyn Knight; Victoria Mahoney, Kyle Valencia, Christian Villatoro and Maya Hauersperger; and Cory Jones, Kylie Jones, Ricardo Lara-Enriquez, Hannah Shuler and Morgan Boas.
Silver medal ensemble winners from Seymour were Dom Rogers, Landon Owens, Skyler Cash and Jon Montgomery; Marley Vehslage, Elle Huff, Elysabeth Allman and Maygen Benitez; Vanessa Bustos, Maria Clemente, Maria Morales and Ravin Rhodes; Carissa Baughman, Mariah Lewis and Heather Altepeter; and Daniel Hauersperger, Joe Mullis and Jacob Moore.
Gold medal students in Group 1 qualified for the state contest conducted Feb. 28 at North Central High School.
Seymour soloists earning state gold medals were Mariah Lewis, Jenna Hardin, Carson Regruth, Levi Pfaffenberger, Samantha Silver and Harsh Patel. Jenny Stuart was a state silver medalist.
Ensembles winning state gold medals were Reno Tanida, Josiah Rudge and Kaitlyn Knight; and Jenny Stuart, Grace Hartman and Lorelei Schmidt. The ensemble of Andrew Rudge, John Newton and Ethan Ashley earned a state silver medal.
Seymour High School bands are under the direction of Kevin Cottrill and Debbie Carroll.
