Theta Omega chapter meets in Seymour

Theta Omega Chapter of Phi Beta Psi sorority met March 16 at the Community Foundation Building of Jackson County in Seymour.

President Joan Trimpe led the meeting and was assisted by Beckie Anderson, Becca Rust, Melanie Klakamp and Janet Cooper.

Members brought donations for Anchor House Family Assistance Shelter & Pantry, which counted toward their Spirit Club Team points. An auction among members will be in April with proceeds going to help defray expenses for the Spirit Club party in June.

Taryn Rockey gave a report about the Feb. 7 dinner and dance. The sorority has forwarded $12,400 to the National Project for cancer research.

There were discussions on how to improve or what to change for the 44th gala in 2016. Co-chairwomen are Michele Lewis and April Darlage.

New members names were submitted to the investigative committee of Kalee Alberring and Lewis. Stephanee Roberts was named to head up the recruitment team committee.

Coopere reported tickets for the upcoming Longaberger and gift card bingo scheduled for April 21 at the American Legion Annex, 414 W. Second St., would be distributed in the near future. Tickets will be $15 and the doors will open at 6 pm. Members will be solicited for door prizes and/or auction gifts.

Correspondence was read concerning national convention on July 19-22 in Tampa Bay, Florida, and the Indiana State Convention on OCt 16-18 at Clarksville.

Election of officers will be held at the April 20 business meeting at the American Legion Annex. The new officer committee is Alberring and Becca Rust.
