George W. Pfaffenberger, 91, of Seymour, died Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Born Nov. 10, 1923, in Indianapolis, he was the son of G. William and Gaynell Breitfield Pfaffenberger.

He grew up on a farm near Seymour and graduated from Seymour High School in 1941. A lifelong entrepreneur, George was best known as a home builder and developer in the Seymour area. He started his career, however, as an excavator and later was the developer of a restaurant chain.

George was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of Seymour Elks Lodge. In his earlier years, he was active in the Republican Party, holding the positions of county chairman and Ninth District Republican chairman, and he served on the Indiana Republican Finance Committee.

Survivors include his wife, Colleta Jo Prewitt Pfaffenberger; two sons, George W. “Bill” (Jane) Pfaffenberger of Avon and Wallace M. (Gail) Pfaffenberger of Seymour; two stepchildren, Wendy (Darin) Johnson of Seymour, and Matthew (Michelle) Waskom of Charlotte, North Carolina; a sister, Beverly Abner of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Douthit; and a brother, Richard Pfaffenberger.

A memorial service will be at noon Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Seymour, with the Rev. Mike Seaney officiating.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.
