Janet Allman Goss, 71, of Freetown, died at 6:10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at her home.

Born March 31, 1943, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of J.C. and Vesta McCory Allman. On April 16, 1961, she married Chester Goss Jr., who survives.

She had worked at Brownstown Middle School as head cook and was the housekeeper for Earl and Pat Hobbs. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ. She had served as church treasurer for 50 years, was church organist and a Sunday school teacher and was part of the Allman Twins singing group. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.

Other survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Jane (David) Williams; one granddaughter, Hannah Jane Williams; one great-granddaughter, Adison Jane Williams; one brother, Maurice “Beech” (Mary) Allman; and one sister, Jean Allman Pogue.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Marvin “Bub” Allman, Thomas Allman and J.C. Allman Jr.; and grandson, Nathan Allan Williams.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown with the Rev. Jean Pogue officiating. Burial will be at Smallwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. until time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
