SEYMOUR

Elwood “Woody” Switzer, 90, of Seymour, entered eternal life Thursday, March 26, 2015.

Born Dec. 30, 1924, in Defiance, Ohio, he was the son of Carl L. and Martha M. Everitt Switzer, both of whom preceded him in death. On Jan. 17, 1948, in Defiance, Ohio, he married Winifred L. “Winnie” Switzer. She passed away Nov. 29, 1998. On Jan. 11, 2003, he married Dorothy M. Jones, who survives.

Mr. Switzer was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Seymour. He served in the U.S. Navy from Jan. 6, 1943, to April 6, 1946. He was an electrical contractor and former member of Seymour Rotary Club. He was a member of The Gideon’s International, and he taught industrial education at Seymour High School for 10 years.

Other survivors include a son, Ronald A. Switzer; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louella M. Bender.

Besides his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert W. Switzer and his brother, Grover W. Switzer.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Voss Chapel with the Rev. David Schrock officiating.

Family and friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Full military graveside rites will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47, and Vietnam Veterans 7, all of Seymour.
