The Ferdinand Folk Festival committee will conduct its annual “Halfway to the Folk Fest” main stage lineup announcement and fundraiser at 7:30 p.m. April 25.

Singer-songwriter Aaron Persinger, a Vallonia native and graduate of Brownstown Central High School and Indiana University, will be the featured performer during the April 25 event at the Gaslight in Huntingburg.

Persinger has been writing and performing his songs for nearly 30 years and has opened for a wide array of artists, including R.B. Morris, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott and Yonder Mountain String Band.

He recently returned from a six-week European tour, opening for Americana recording artist Austin Lucas.

Persinger’s latest release, an EP entitled “Just a Voice,” features former members of John Mellencamp’s band — Kenny Aronoff on drums and percussion and Toby Myers on bass. The album also includes guitar work by Jason Wilber, a member of John Prine’s backing band.

The sixth annual Ferdinand Folk Festival will be Sept. 19.
