The Indiana Department of Transportation has issued a permit allowing closure of U.S. 50 in North Vernon on Saturday afternoon for an Easter parade.

Parade floats, performers and participants will occupy the highway from Jennings Street to Fifth Street between 2 and 2:30 p.m.

Miss Indiana USA is scheduled to make an appearance.

The event is sponsored by the Jennings County Chamber of Commerce.

The children’s movie “Hop” will play free of charge following the parade at 3:30 p.m. at North Vernon’s Park Theatre Civic Centre.
