Lester Baker, 85, of Brownstown, passed away Friday, April 3, 2015, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour.

Born April 26, 1929, in Manchester, Kentucky, he was the son of B.P. and Addie Bowling Baker, both of whom preceded him in death. On Jan. 11, 1959, he married Edna McElfresh. She survives in Brownstown.

He was the owner of Baker’s Body Shop, Brownstown, and served in the United States Army.

Other survivors also include two sons, Steven (Tammy) Baker of Vallonia and Mark (Tammie) Baker of Brownstown; one sister, Ethel Davis; four grandchildren, James (Caitlyn) Baker, David Baker, Scott Baker and Sarah Baker; and two great-grandchildren, William Baker and Evan Baker.

Besides his parents, he also was preceded in death by four sisters, Ruth Hignite, Alabama Davidson, Ortha Davidson and Mae Conard; and three brothers, Ted Baker, Hobart Baker and Feltner Baker.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Spurgeon Funeral Home.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown. Military honors will be presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam Vets 7.

Memorials may be given to Don & Dana Myers Cancer Center, Tampico Christian Church or donor’s choice.
