Sylvia M. Metzger, 94, of Seymour, formerly of Columbus, died at 6:40 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2015, at Schneck Medical Center.

Born Sept. 13, 1920, in Crothersville, she was the daughter of John and Dottie Derringer Silence, both of whom preceded her in death. On Nov. 4, 1939, she married Leslie H. Metzger. He preceded her in death Sept. 12, 1998.

She was a member of East Columbus Christian Church, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, painting ceramics and bead work.

Survivors include her daughters, Charlene (David) Robbins of Seymour, Melinda (Robert) O’Leary of Columbus, and Nancy Solomon of Columbus; grandchildren, Crystal (Robert) Cannon, Katherine (Joseph) Piercefield, Jeffrey (Kendra) Solomon, Leslie Solomon, Steven Solomon and Mark Solomon; and great-grandchildren, Sunseri Cannon, Peyton Piercefield, Alison Solomon, Alyssa Solomon and Alexis Solomon.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street in Columbus with Bill Weaver officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
