Centra offering coloring contest

Centra Credit Union branches and Centra Foundation are recognizing National Financial Literacy Month in April by sponsoring a coloring contest.

The contest is open to all children ages 3 to 9. Coloring sheets are available at Centra branches and at centrafoundation.org. Centra Credit Union’s office in Seymour is at 520 S. Jackson Park Drive.

Completed artwork should be completed and returned to a Centra branch by April 18.

To be eligible to win a $25 saving deposit, parents and caregivers are asked to donate $1 to Centra Foundation to support financial literacy programs in local schools.

Each branch will select a winner in two age categories — ages 3 to 6 and ages 7 to 9. Each branch winner’s artwork will be forwarded to the Centra Foundation for final judging.

Centra Foundation offers two school-based programs on financial literacy.

Second-grade students at Cortland and Jackson elementary schools learn to understand the value of money and importance of saving through the Saving with Mandy and Randy program.

Students at Crothersville, Seymour and Trinity Lutheran high schools benefit from Making the Right Money Moves program. Students learn financial responsibility and basic money management, including the safe use of debit and credit cards.
