A Jackson County man has been arrested on multiple charges, including sexual misconduct with a minor.

Brandon S. Carr, 29, was arrested Thursday at his residence on East 14th Street in Seymour. He faces five counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 5 felony; three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 6 felony; and one count of attempted sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 5 felony.

He also faces one count of attempted sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 6 felony; and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a Level 6 felony.

Police said Carr had inappropriate contact with a 14-year-old girl for about five months, according to a news release from the Seymour Police Department.

Seymour Detective C.J. Foster said police were made aware of the situation after the girl’s father filed a complaint at the Seymour Police Department.

An investigation began March 27, which ultimately led to Carr’s arrest.

Foster said the number of sexual misconduct counts stems from the number of times the girl told police she and Carr had encounters together, which began in November and occurred in different areas in the city.

Police said they are unsure how the girl and Carr were introduced. Foster said the investigation is ongoing.

Carr was taken to the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown, where he was being held without bond Friday morning.
