Author Barbara Dixon plans to speak at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 333 S. Chestnut St., Seymour.

Her book, “A Forgotten Heritage,” chronicles the history of the German Methodist Episcopal Church through her personal research, travels and excerpts from the diaries of her grandfather, Theodore Rudin, a German Methodist minister from 1898 to 1934, as he traveled throughout the Central German Conference.

Dixon’s visit is part of Trinity’s 175th anniversary celebration this year. The congregation began as a German Methodist congregation in 1840 near the Rockford area.

Besides speaking at the 9:30 a.m. service, Dixon also will dress in costume for the combined Sunday school at 10:45 a.m., sharing more in-depth information about the German Methodist heritage of the area.

The public is welcome to come and hear her presentations that morning.
