Final Relay for Life team meeting conducted

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Jackson County final team meeting was April 13 at MainSource Bank in Seymour.

Event leadership team members Jan Engel, Heather Quillen and Josh Quillen announced three new teams had joined that day, which brought the total to 30.

For National Volunteer Week, the leadership team purchased cupcake cards in honor of each volunteer in attendance.

They welcomed volunteers, announced that more than $15,000 was donated in sponsorships — including six donations of $1,000 or more — and outlined the agenda for the 2015 event.

This year’s Relay For Life of Jackson County will from 6 p.m. to midnight May 1 at Seymour High School’s Bulleit Stadium.

The public is invited to participate.

Luminary names in honor or memory of cancer patients are due by April 24 via email to relayjacksoncounty@gmail.com with “Luminary” in the subject line. Luminaries should be decorated and on the track prior to 8 p.m. Bags should be weighed down with canned goods to donate to Anchor House.
