Garden club hears about small-area plots

All Seasons Garden Club met April 6 at the home of Julie Nay with Julie Ballard serving as co-hostess.

A program about small-area gardens, including straw-bale, keyhole and raised bed gardens, was presented by Kathi Linz. She shared pictures of her gardens and tips to harvest produce.

Following the program, a light supper was served to members. Favors were garden emery boards.

Newly elected President Becky Hackman called the meeting to order, minutes were read, and Jean Barkman was welcomed as a new member.

The club will be planting the gardens at 5 p.m. May 4 at Lutheran Community Home. Hackman volunteered to cut back the knockout roses and check out the gardens prior to the planting session. A committee of Connie Lovins, Martha Wilson and Sandy Kovener will purchase annuals for the gardens. Hostesses for the evening are Ann Burgess and Martha Wilson.

Peggy Broshears and Hackman won the Easter bingo game.
