The Indiana Arts Commission recently announced that it will partner with the Indiana Bicentennial Commission to select an artist to create a commemorative medal recognizing the state’s 200th anniversary.

The call for artists is now open to any permanent, legal resident of Indiana 18 or older. Applicants must be willing to work with the selection committee to make design changes, if needed, and willing to meet all project deadlines.

Artists may submit up to three designs with their application. Subject matter for the design(s) must be reflective of Indiana’s 200 years of history. To see a complete list of design submission guidelines and requirements, visit in.gov/arts/2861.htm.

The winning artist will receive a $5,000 cash award for his or her design. The selected artist will provide any follow-up medal design needs to assure the highest quality minted medal possible. The winning design, including copyright, becomes the property of the state of Indiana.

The deadline to submit the application and artwork is 4:30 p.m. June 29. The application must be submitted through Café, the online call for entry system used by the arts commission for this program, at callforentry.org.

All decisions of the selection committee will be final. The committee reserves the right to re-open the competition if a suitable design cannot be identified in the initial selection process.
