Seymour grad honored for pitching peformance

University of Kentucky right-handed pitcher Zack Brown, a Seymour High School graduate, has been named Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week after holding No. 6 Florida scoreless for seven innings in a win Friday.

Brown extended his streak of scoreless pitching to 15 1/3 innings with the performance and improved to 4-4 with a 2.81 ERA in 11 games this season.

The sophomore struck out six batters and walked two while surrendering five hits in the Wildcats’ 3-0 series-opening win against Florida.

The Wildcats (25-17, 10-10 SEC) took two of three games in the series at Florida.

Kentucky’s six-game winning streak was snapped in the series finale Sunday.
