Take up an easel at painting classes

Southern Indiana Center for the Arts in Seymour has a couple of opportunities for those wanting to attend a painting event in May.

“Colorful Butterflies” is an 8-by-10 watercolor class for beginner and intermediate levels taught by Kay Fox from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the center, 2001 N. Ewing St. Participants will use a wet-on-wet technique and add salt in layers to create the blue and purple background.

Class price of $35 includes all supplies and instructions. SICA members will receive a 20 percent discount. Preregistration and prepayment are required. Class size is limited.

The Paint the Town crew will be at Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge east of Seymour for the annual Wings Over Muscatatuck event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 9 with a choice of projects. Participants may pick an 8-by-10 acrylic painting with a nature/bird theme or a small rock with a floral theme that can be displayed in your garden.

Class price is $15 and includes all supplies and instructions. Preregistration and prepayment are not required but recommended to ensure supplies are available.

Reservations can be made by calling 812-522-2278 or emailing [email protected].
