William D. “Bob” Treadway, 89, of Haleysburg, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at University of Louisville Hospital.

Born Oct. 18, 1925, in Jackson County, he was the son of Homer E. Treadway and Mary E. Brown Treadway. On March 1, 1947, he married Doris V. Bowers in Haleysburg. She preceded him in death Oct. 19, 2004.

Mr. Treadway was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army. His military qualifications were Rifle SS-Carbine SS 30 caliber, Machine Gun 50 caliber and a light truck driver. His battles and campaigns were Rhineland and Central Europe; decorations and citations received were American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon with two bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Occupation Ribbon Austria and three overseas bars. Mr. Treadway worked as a machinist/welder at Arvins and then retired as a carpenter from Abraham’s. He was a member of Haleysburg Nazarene Church.

Survivors include his three children, David Keith (Joan) Treadway of Seymour, Carol Treadway of Vallonia, and Brenda (Steve) Hughes of Vallonia; grandchildren, Lynnette (Scott) Larrison of Seymour, Patricia (Pat) Moss of Seymour, William Hughes of Vallonia, Laura (Brad) Meyer of Seymour, and Vanessa Reinhart of Seymour; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Joseph Larrison, Christopher Stanley, Macey Paige Moss and Parker Dean Moss; and brothers, Homer Treadway of Seymour, and Richard “Dickie” Treadway of Scottsburg.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, David Treadway; and two sisters, Louise Overshiner and Edna Morley.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia, with Matt Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Vallonia Cemetery with full military graveside rites.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
