Allison Persinger was named January Youth of the Month by the Brownstown Exchange Club during a recent meeting.

The Brownstown Central High School senior was introduced by club member and committee chairman Kevin Gwin, who also teaches at the school.

Persinger is a member of National Honor Society; and a two-year member of the Drama, B.A.D. and Christian clubs. She has been a Band of Braves member for three years — playing the flute — and she has been a member of the Brave Wave swim team for 11 years.

She has participated in Taekwondo for 12 years and holds a black belt and is an instructor.

Persinger received a certificate of recognition from the town of Brownstown for the rescue of a child while a lifeguard at the pool in the summer of 2014.

The daughter of Ronald and Peggy Persinger, who attended the meeting, said she plans to attend Indiana University to study pediatric nursing.

Brownstown Exchange Club meets at 7 a.m. Tuesdays at Michie’s Diner, 216 W. Commerce St., Brownstown. Visitors are always welcome.
