Ronnie P. “Higgy” Higginbotham, 61, of Seymour, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015, at home.

Born Dec. 12, 1953, at Noblesville, he was the son of Odas Higginbotham Sr., who preceded him in death, and Jackie Jean Wilson Higginbotham, who survives in Seymour. He was formerly married to Judy Brown.

Ronnie started out working as a mechanic at Pucks and then went to work for Texas Eastern. He eventually ended up at AK Tube LLC in Walesboro where he had worked the past 18 years. He was a member of ABATE of Indiana for 38 years, The Alley Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Sons of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Sons of the American Legion and The American Legion Riders.

Ronnie enjoyed portraying Santa Claus for Lutheran Community Home residents. He was known as a fix-it man who in his spare time; and enjoyed fishing, camping and riding his Harleys.

Ronnie is survived by a brother, Odas (Phyllis) Higginbotham Jr.; three sisters, Bonnie (Bud) Daab, Connie (Tony) Bolte, and Stella Higginbotham; nieces, Amy (Murl) Robinson, Tina Bolte, JeanAnn (Shawn) Thomas, and Nicole Higginbotham; a nephew, Craig (Dawn) Bolte; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Tristan Robinson, Cooper Robinson, Anthony Bolte, Brooklyn Bolte, and Blazdin Higginbotham.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Voss Chapel with Brother Rick Wilson officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

After the funeral service, “Higgy” will be transported by a Harley-Davidson hearse to Oaklawn Memorial Cemetery at 9700 Allisonville Road in Indianapolis for a chapel service at 1:30 p.m.
