Dear Mom, I love you

My mother, Jeannie Atkins, has by far been the biggest inspiration and influence on my life. Loving, caring and strong are just a few of the words I can think of to describe her. I would not be the person I am today without her in my life, and I would not be where I am today without her guidance. I am forever blessed.

Debbie Wetzel is more than my mom. She has been my best friend for 34 years. I have her to thank for my successes in life, and she is the one who held my hand and got me through my worst times. She doesn’t have a college degree, but she is the smartest, hardest-working, most beautiful and caring person I know. She and my dad did everything they had to do, including taking out loans and working two jobs, to make sure my sister and I got to graduate from college. Without her guidance and influence in my life, I wouldn’t be who I am today. Thank you, Mom, for all you do. You are the best, and I love you. Happy Mother’s Day.

My mother, Jackie Woods, is a special woman who taught her four children that education, hard work and never giving up will take you a long way in life. She has never been big on celebrations, such as birthdays, anniversaries or even Mother’s Day (she’s in Texas right now, which means I can’t celebrate Mother’s Day with her), but we all know she cares and will celebrate it in another way. And that love of travel also is something she passed along to all of us. Here’s to you, Mom.

My mother, Eloise Russell, is the strongest person I know. She is a nine-year breast cancer survivor and is a testimonial for never giving up. She raised her four kids to be hard-working and independent yet loving and understanding. She worked many years in factories to help support our family and encouraged us to get a good education. Happy Mother’s Day, Mom. I love you with all my heart.

I have truly been blessed with an amazing mom, Nancy Hawkins. She has been my never-ending rock for 50 years, my mentor and cheerleader, my voice of reason and my best friend. I also have the blessing of an amazing mother-in-law who supports my family and me. Both women are fantastic role models and grandmothers.
